Research

Research opportunities at the University of Washington Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine are almost endless. It ranks among the top departments in the country in terms of current NIH funding. Over thirty full-time faculty are involved in research projects covering all aspects of orthopaedics.

Residents are encouraged to participate in research from the beginning of residency as well. Second year residents are allotted dedicated time for research and are provided research time in third year on their clinical rotations. This allows for possible publications prior to fellowship applications. All residents present research in fifth year at the annual Resident Research Day.
