Drs. Hsu and Matsen Awarded 2024 Charles Neer Award by ASES

Congratulations to Drs. Jason Hsu and Frederic Matsen and team!

Their paper "Genetics of Cutibacterium acnes in Revision Shoulder Arthroplasty: A Large-Scale Bacterial Whole-Genome Sequencing Study" has been awarded the 2024 Charles Neer Award in basic science by the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Foundation. Presentation of the award will be made at the upcoming ASES Annual Meeting in Scottsdale, AZ in October.

The Neer Award was established in honor of Dr. Charles S. Neer, who was one of the founding members and the first president of ASES. The award was created to provide recognition for outstanding clinical and basic science investigations contributing to the understanding, care or prevention of injuries to the Shoulder.

This is a great honor for the team and wonderful recognition for their work related to surgical infection control as infection can be a major complication for patients having shoulder surgery.
