Dr. Chelsea Boe recently appeared on King5 news in Seattle to discuss a rise in hand injuries related to cutting avocados.
Dubbed "avocado hand," injuries related to cutting avocados have been on the rise with the increased consumption of avocados. These injuries are becoming more common as avocado consumption has tripled over the last 20 years. Dr. Boe says the 15-20 injuries they see each year is an underestimate of the number of injuries actually occuring in the community.
