Distal radius fractures (commonly referred to as 'wrist fractures') are frequently associated with falls on an outstretched arm and are a particular problem for elderly patients. These fractures have been historically underappreciated in their impact on patient's wellbeing. Dr. Tom Fisher of Ortho Indianapolis is one of the honorary visiting guest professors of this Trauma Summit in Seattle, and has published extensively on this subject. He discusses assessment and care principles of distal fractures for a variety of adult age groups.
