Bruce J. Sangeorzan, MD, professor of orthopaedics and sports medicine at the University of Washington, Seattle, has been named president of the 2,100-member American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS). In addition to leading the Society as president, Dr. Sangeorzan will also serve on the board of directors of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation.

Dr. Sangeorzan will focus much of his term on strategic development of the Society, whose members specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system of the foot and ankle.

“Over the last 25 years the AOFAS has grown fourfold and matured into a vibrant international community of dedicated orthopedic surgeons. The staff and board are committed to providing members with educational resources and ways to assess the best diagnostic and treatment options for our patients.”
