Between 2014 and 2018 the data shows our surgical workload has increased from 13153 cases per year to 15430 cases per year, an increase of over 17.3% in the 4-year time frame.
As demonstrated by our patient satisfaction scores, our Department has taken to heart the UW mantra that “Patients Are First.”. As of December 2019, one measure reflecting patent satisfaction with their in-patient care, HCHPS (Hospital Consumer of Healthcare Providers and Systems) scores, were in the 93% percentile for our department as a whole in national rankings. We are very proud the fact that our CG-CAHPS score for willingness of our patient to recommend us to others is at 92 percent.
We have made great strides in reducing the length of stay after hip or knee arthroplasty patients. In 2014 at our Northwest Campus the length of stay on average was 2.7 days, in 2015 we were at 2.3 days and now we are excited to report our average is 1.65 days.
In addition to continued clinical growth, our Department’s research enterprise also has experienced steady growth. Between 2016 and 2018 we experienced an increase of over 64% in extramural research funding.
